01/06/2009 - Tenacious

Dated: 01/06/2009

Yesterday was the last night in Dublin so it was the last opportunity for the crew to go ashore.

Breakfast was at 8.00 as usual. Happy hour followed with the whole ship being scrubbed and swept right down to the scuppers.

The original plan was to leave the quay at 7 but this changed as we were given a slot to pass through the bridge at 11am, we followed the navy ship L.E. Aoife who had been helpful assisting to release lines from the shore.

We then followed the Aoife out under power until we had cleared the main traffic route.

It is now two o'clock in the afternoon and we have both sets of topsails and t'gallants up along with 2 staysails and a jib. As there is only a couple of knots of wind we are only going half a knot forward. The sun is shining and there are nearly no clouds at all so we are working on our tans as we wait for the breeze to pick up. We have just passed Dalkey Island. Barely!
