04/09/2008 - Lord Nelson
Dated: 04/09/2008
We were anchored somewhere in the English Channel (in Dungeoness bay, opposite the power station). The captain decided that we needed some entertainment for the evening and took advantage of the eager corporate diversity crew on the ship. The Allianz staffers were asked to host a trivia evening (which they did extremely well – well done! MP).
We decided to break with tradition and mixed the permanent crew in with the rest; and we are happy to report a good night was had by all (especially the winning team who enjoyed a bottle of champagne as first prize). We were glad that Steve the mate had to work during the quiz – there was no way any of us could have competed against his capacity of general knowledge…
Back to Day Five; the anchor was raised at 6am this morning – so we had a lovely wake up call from the team on watch. The water has been rough, but the sun has been out and the mood of the crew is high (even during the ‘2, 6, heave’ moments).
I must make a special mention to the home of ‘mess duty’; you keep us busy, but you do it with a smile – how can we not love you (especially Rosie, querida)!
We are heading towards the Isle of Wight – and we are anticipating some calmer waters for sailing. Captain Neil will have the chance to show us exactly what this baby can do.
So, fifth day verdict; having a cracker of a time (picking up the language from the poms), am a big fan of the crew and feeling sorry for the people who have not yet found their sea legs – keeping my fingers crossed for you
