We the Voyage Crew of Tenacious wish to claim the record for the shortest trip in JST's history of 2.1 nautical miles on Wednesday 1st October 2008. From St Malo to St Malo via the lock. Simon, The Captain performed a hand brake turn and went back through the lock before they had time to close it. The Pilot requested to be put ashore before the end of the breakwater. There appeared to be a lack of confidence on his part regarding the skills of us crew!
Eventually, on Friday evening, we made a run for it, this time the pilot came on board but jumped ship when we were in the lock, our initial suprise at this was soothed by the fact he then boarded the pilot boat and ran the guantless of rocks and terrible conditions to guide us out into seas that could have all to easliy swallowed up a tiny boat like his! Although there was a poor forecast, we had a wonderful sail back to Poole, by which time the gale had caught us up again. We tied up securely so that we would not move. Unfortunately that did not prevent one member of the crew falling over an immovable set of bitts. By this stage many of the crew were pleased to see that we were moored no more than 15 yards from a pub, the next nearest being 20 yards.
Jackie, Voyage Crew.
