04/10/2009 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 04/10/2009

After a ‘late’ breakfast at 0830hrs, we enjoyed a little happiness, sprucing up the heads and living accommodation ready for our new crew to arrive. The day opened bright and sunny here in Rouen, France. Some of the crew have been to Paris for the day; others have enjoyed the delights of the old town of Rouen, taking in the cathedral, old buildings and shops.

The new voyage crew of LN 734 joined this afternoon and were welcomed by Captain John Etheridge before he introduced the rest of the crew, namely: Neil the mate; Jon the 2nd mate; Natalie the Bosun; Marco the chief engineer and Rachel 2nd engineer with Dave the engineering assistant; Gerry the Cook ably assisted by Mandy and Rachel the medical purser, equally ably assisted by Pat, not forgetting the Bosun’s Mates Alec and Laurence.

Once everyone had been introduced, it was time to get a little of the training and briefings done before Gerry announced a buffet by the main mast. The weather stayed fine for the sumptuous feast of homemade rolls, all manner of salads, cheeses, beef, tuna, followed by fresh fruit salad.

Then Neil gave everyone shore leave with harbour watches commencing at 2200hrs tonight.
