05/03/2010 - Tenacious

Dated: 05/03/2010

With regards to the scandalous accusations made in the last web blog posted by members of this watch about other members of the watch, it should be noted that only a very small part of what was written was true. As far as the ‘Reprobate Mariners’ (Bill & Harry) are concerned I guess I didn’t put enough money in the brown envelope and have been stuck with both of them for two weeks! I have been told men in white coats have been ordered to be in Monaco when we dock and to look for a quivering wreck of a watchleader!!

Now to the last 24 hours… After 3 days at sea, we have just sighted land – Italy; yesterday after a wonderful Chinese meal (thanks Hammie) we braced ourselves for a rather bumpy night with winds gusting to force 8 and very lumpy seas; but it was the turn of the people sleeping on the port-side of the ship to spend the night lying in their lee-cloths for a change. Sadly the wind, which definitely blew away the cobwebs on the duty night watches, was in the wrong direction so we have been motoring all night and all of today. We hope to reach Sicily sometime tomorrow morning. This afternoon is retail therapy time, when told the shop would be opening Kristen’s eyes lit up at the prospect but was disappointed to be told that the shop sold JST merchandise and not Armani, Gucci or the usual duty free stuff. The afore said Kristen who is running the watch this afternoon as part of her ‘leadership at sea’ has just been told we can see land and had to be held back from getting her phone to see if she could get a signal so that could phone her Dad.

Forward Starboard Watch – Jim W/L on behalf of Paula, Dave, Kristen, Danny and we mustn’t forget you know who.
