This is a little late, but we wanted to share our experience on the ruler of the waves: the Royal Yacht Britannia. Katie, Sue, Rosemary and Rachel took the opportunity of being berthed right next to Britannia (well done to the Watch who brought us in without causing any damage to either ship!) and went for a wander round.
We certainly know which the superior ship is now! Britannia did show up the paintwork and brass works on Lord Nelson though. And we didn’t fancy remedying the situation by starting Happy Hour in silence, to be finished before 8am... The fudge shop, on the other hand, would be most welcome on board! The dining room was rather long, and with all the anterooms and walk-in wardrobes, we’re positive we would have got lost had we attempted to rule the waves with Britannia. As it is, getting the correct stairs on Lord Nelson for the lower mess/bar (delete as appropriate) can be a tad disorientating at times, particularly when on a Night Watch and you’re looking for the galley for food and hot drinks, or trying to do a sweep of the decks. At least we only have two decks to look after, and we don’t have to look invisible when we see members of the Royal Family...

Today our watch
Today I got up and I didn’t have any breakfast because I wasn’t hungry then after breakfast we sailed to Newcastle then we had happy hour and then I saw Keith and I gave him a hug because he is Caring and nice to everyone! J And I think he is one of the best crew on the tall ship (lord nelson)
I am going to miss everyone and the ship when I leave L but it has been GREAT and if any of the crew are reading this THANKYOU for the best 10 days!! : D from Zoe.Scott x J
We disembarked from Britannia in time for afternoon Smoko consisting of scones with jam and cream, fruit cake and tea served on gold-gilded crockery with silver cutlery. Or was that Afternoon Tea on Britannia??
So, who has the superior ship?
Well, we have now arrived in Newcastle at the end of the voyage. Sails have been stowed and the Girl guiding net topsail set. This evening it was ‘dress up the watch leaders’. Sue made a very convincing chief pirate! Jenn was a bumble bee, Alex was the ‘Lord Nelson’ and Rachel was a Hawaiian cocktail girl.
Captain Clare then heard the new versions of Yogi bear, which listed all the crew and a new version of the ‘Hi Ho song’ with everything related to things on board.
We’re not sure if she knew completely knew what had hit her or if she will be the same again after this voyage......
It has been a great voyage – thanks everyone for all the laughs and all the memories. Katie
Watch leader Sue says thank you JST what you do changes lives. From all on 747 GG3 xx
