Day 5 12.30am: We have been here on Lord Nelson for 5 days now, and we have already experienced so many wonderful things! We were warmly welcomed by citizens of Olden (day 3) and were taken on a guided bus tour to Briksdalbreen, a gigantic arm of a glacier. From the bus, we had a short walk up to the glacier itself, on the way passing magnificent waterfalls. The view of the glacier was just breathtaking- we all had to take many photographs!
When everyone was back on the ship, many of the 'youngsters' dared to have a swim in the glacial water, jumping in from the quay, just by the ship. The water was so cold, about 10'C, and after a few jumps we were all shivering! After a great shower and a cup of hot chocolate, all was back to normal!
We are team Fore Port, consisting of watch leader Steve, and crew members Ina, Vilkje, Adolfas, Eddie, Laura, George, Tom, Sophie and Helena. At this very moment we are in the middle of our 12am til 4am watch, which is pretty tiring to be honest! But we have fun, Eddie continuously running around making endless cups of coffee, keeping everyone awake!
Sophie, Helena and a few others from the other watches had a climb up the mast yesterday, and relaxed on the 2nd deck, all immensely enjoying the view from up the top! It felt so surreal, sailing through the beautiful fjords of Norway on the mast of a tall ship. We watched the sun set, and by this time was pretty windy! It was definitely a relief to get our feet back on deck! Only a few more days until the end of our voyage, and I certainly don't want this journey to end just yet!
