Had an amazing day of sailing today. Set off from our berth in Jersey refreshed from our 2 nights rest and with bellies full of fry up. Got to climb up onto the yard arm and release the gaskets which was fun, am getting gradually less scared now! All hands were on deck to set the sails, but luckily time was made for carrot cake at smoko. Then my watch covered the 12.30 till 4 shift and it was my turn to have a go at being watch leader! Got up to 10 knots as we sailed down the Alderney Race in beautiful weather making for a very happy crew. The day was rounded off with roast lamb (it’s a tough life) and a few more adjustments to the sails before starting to weave our way across the shipping lanes back towards England. And the best news is that everyone seems to have found their sea legs- no sickness today, although the sight of Josh in a mini skirt at breakfast did make some feel a little queasy…
I’m sitting in the bar writing this log with Nick who is enjoying his 55th voyage! Feel honoured to be buddied with a JST celebrity!
