Bastia, NE coast of Corsica
After 'happy hour' it was time for everyone apart from the hard working cadets and officers to go ashore. The DOTI boat and RIB were winched into position and less able people lowered down to the water level where the boats await, to take all ashore.
For those remaining onboard various tasks, and drills took place, to keep the ship and crew in order. This included a lesson on the permit to work system for hot work on deck. Cadet Ben was on fire watch whilst Steve re-welded the door lock to the engine room, while the other Cadets, Matt, Kieren, and Alana put the spanker up with the BMs.
Around 1600 the 1st Mate allowed the cadets to go ashore! We found essentials and had choc and banana crepes, before returning to the ship 40 mins later. All the voyage crew had a great trip ashore.
After the evening meal was served. Sue opened the shop up. I think everyone bought a few items of clothing! During the course of the evening, whilst relaxing under the stars on the Foc'sle a small rib arrived from a Danish Schooner, as she had fuel problems! Unfortunately we were unable to help them out as we have a few problems with our own fuel
We present for your education and enjoyment a wee ditty by Paul (FS), with apologies to Messrs Gilbert & Sullivan...
