On Saturday the voyage of LN741 came to an end once we came alongside in Weymouth. There was a welcoming committee of 2 old Permanent crew Fiona Spears and Paul Compton. A frantic last minute flurry of packing and people gradually started their homeward journey.
On Sunday the local supporters started to arrive shortly after 09.00 to get ready for the sponsored mast climb. A shanty group appeared to play music whilst people did there sponsored climbs watched by their families and supporters. They then had tours of the ship. In the evening there was a reception on board, and the local supporters were again in force to show invited people around our ship. At the end the group from Ireland arrived on board having been travelling all day by ferries and trains not wanting to risk flights being cancelled. Eleven young pupils escorted by 2 teachers were grateful to reach the ship at the end of along day.
Monday morning and its time to get the ship ready for the new crew joining today. The engineers are busy bunkering fuel as I type this.
