08/10/2008 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 08/10/2008

Web report 8th October Portsmouth – Soton

Huge thanks to W/L John Griffith Fwd Stbd for this rendition of ‘Spanish Lady’

Cap’n Neil introduced the team: Chris, Alex, Marco
We listened in awe, no reason to shout,
John, Bill, Dave, also multi-skilled Rachel,
And Vicky and Ben ‘who’ll be floating about!’

CHORUS

WE’LL RANT AND WE’LL ROAR LIKE TRUE JST SAILORS
WE’LL RANT AND WE’LL ROAR WHEREVER THE CALL
UNTIL WE SIGN UP FOR ANOTHER ADVENTURE,
FOR POMPEY – SOUTHAMPTON’S NO DISTANCE AT ALL!

Cook Dave is a nautical culinary maestro,
Whatever the weather he cooks up a storm:
Five-layer birthday cakes oozing with calories,
Half-metre sausages clearly the norm!

CHORUS

Our Medical Purser’s a great multi-tasker:
Our health, wealth and happiness, her souvenir stall,
Happy hour, hygiene, logs, photos, computer,
Plus sympathy, sick bags – ‘no problem at all!’

CHORUS

Now, Harry was guinea pig (but he’s no dummy!)
For Scotland and Nellie he’ll stand by his rights
For demo’s on several evac procedures
He merits a series of ‘dark (n) stormy’ nights!

CHORUS

At least we had Cherbourg to view at our leisure,
And impress Gallic neighbours, the Brits are not soft,
Not to mention the staff of the Caf’e de Paris
When Paula plus wheelchair were lifted aloft!

CHORUS

Our catapaults fashioned from thousands of knickers,
To fire at Tenacious and make them irate,
We won, partly due to the blue on blue action,
The Battle of Cherbourg 2008!

CHORUS

So thanks to you all for your excellent friendship,
To officers, volunteers, happy to stay,
To wild Bill our hoseman and all fellow scrubbers
Let’s hope we meet up again sailing one day!
