Today was a good sailing day with plenty going on around the deck. We got underway about 0645, sailing off the anchorage after a night of sundowners on the bridge with a sneaky shandy or two in the bar. These went down a treat as always.
After a bit of a bash up through the Dover straits a few days previous it was great to get some sails set and enjoy a nice easy downwind morning up to Southend where we currently lie, anchored near the pier. This afternoon we managed to get a harbour stow in the fore course which was particularly neat with two nice clews and all nicely rolled up tight. Kate got out her gorilla mask but in the end it didn’t get an airing on the yard, maybe tomorrow for the topsail…
We’ve got fish pie for supper then I’ve got the regular scrub through to finish off, all in a days work for a BM, remember…!
