10/05/2010 - Tenacious

Dated: 10/05/2010

start of Voyage 280 in Volos, Greece. Today started as usual with breakfast and then a quick clean up of the ship in preparation for "Open Ship" at 1100; when we open the door to the public for tours round deck. It finished at 1300 which then led promptly to a gorgeous lunch feast prepared by Graham and Flipper (Otherwise known as Phillipa!)! After that the voyage crew started to arrive throughout the afternoon. With that in mind we waited until everyone got here at 1600 for formal introductions to the Permanent Crew and BMs Godfrey and Nigel and Flipper the Cook's Assistant. Safety briefings for a while until yummy dinner time (it was that good I can't actually remember what we had :P) and then we had the crew parade!! That was good fun; we brandished the Red ensign proudly along with the Tenacious flag and the Tenacious sign the Historic Seas Regatta gave us.

Along with the other ship's crews in the race we marched along the streets of Volos to welcoming applause from the Public! It was lovely! The crew party after that was organised in a gated off garden but by the time we got there the Russians had drunk it dry! I'm not even joking!! And the half a mile queue for food didn't tempt us so we went off the Balthasaar bar for a few tipples!
