10/08/2010 - Lord Nelson
Dated: 10/08/2010
12.15 am, it is a beautiful starry night and all is well. Aft Port Watch reporting for duty! Blue Duck found and re-hidden because it was found too easily! Anchored off Yarmouth Pier for the night. We were so pleased that so many people achieved going aloft in front of shoppers on Gunwharf Quay and going out on the yard. Happy Hour 9am-10am, scrubbing the deck (Aft Port Watch cleaned the heads!). All Hands on Deck to leave the Port of Portsmouth, pulling in ropes and lifting the fenders, then lifting the Gangway. Pilot came aboard to take us out of Port. After an early lunch, we were on Watch, steering in squally wind and driving rain and taking it in turns to “look out”. All Hands on Deck again to brace the Yards as Meredyth (Aft Port Watch) drove us to our anchor point, hooray!! Yummy roast dinner enjoyed by all followed by ice cream and fruit salad. Observations currently being carried out every 20minutes to check the ship is still in the same position (we think it is?!). End of day one – girls on board = 40 plus crew (full ship), ducks on board = at least 3, men (or girls) overboard = zero, sick count = zero, exploding tomato ketchup bottles = 1! Aft port watch signing off (Jinty, Becky, Katherine, Gilly & Emma – plus the sleeping beauties below).
