10/10/2010 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 10/10/2010

The wonderful dinner cooked by Cooks fair hands was only enjoyed by a few as stormy seas caused a few crew to retire early to bed or call for their friends Hughie and Ralph over starboard, Technically it was gale force 7 with 30 mile an hour gusts.

A rough passage to Cherbourg with Phil battling at the helm, sails were hauled in scenes reminiscent of Perfect Storm...but we arrived. safely anchored at around 2215.

The radar system decided to turn itself off in the early hours, guest appearance from the captain to sort it out. We blamed the good old windows operating system.

Breakfast enjoyed by ALL the crew today (11th)! After breakfast we lifted anchor at 9:30 leaving for the inner harbour at Cherbourg, sunny spells breaking through but still a cool strong breeze and choppy waters! We made alterations to the paintwork on the side of the boat on entering the basin.

We did a 3 point turn and hauled on to the side, we then did the assisted climbs. Both Steph and John enjoyed their time aloft neither wanting to come down and John wanting to climb right to the top. After the hard climb we all helped demolish Helen's birthday cake. Going out to explore Cherbourg, hopefully we will find our way back to the Ship. More later. Forward Starboard Watch.
