Bright and still morning with very little wind. After crew photograph the boat was made ready for sailing and we cast off and motored towards Tenerife. After lunch some zephyrs of wind persuaded the Captain that it was time to sail. After some bracing practice most of the sails are set including the Spanker. Sadly with speed currently 2 knots, we fear that arrival in Santa Cruz tomorrow might be slightly delayed unless there is an improvement in the wind strength.
Voyage member Mike has volunteered to have his 40 year old beard shaved off. Sponsorship so far has reached £123 which will be split between JST and the British Legion Poppy Appeal. This should prove to be amusing entertainment when the Medical Purser gets out her surgical implements to see what lies underneath his bristles!
