My first full day aboard Tenacious started early with a shore watch from 0200 to 0400 - a wonderful way to see the ship at rest before what will be a busy first leg tomorrow. I have looked forward to this experience for so long, and my first day has been wonderful. We learned about the various safety procedures, how to brace the yards and actually climbed the main mast and went out the lower topsail yard - definately going back with my camera! And I was pleased to learn that we can obtain permission to go out on the bowsprit - an incredible experience under sail. The excitement is building for the start of the race tomorrow, and we had an opportunity to visit some of the other tall ships this afternoon, including the Russian and Polish sisterships docked next to us.
It will be amazing to see them all under sail and heading for the same starting line!!
