Our watch got a lie in this morning (called at 07.30) as we had been on night duty from 8-12, all except Katherine who was on mess duty! Gemma is now steering the ship after taking over from Alex, some of us are having a cup of hot chocolate in the upper mess!! Had a great day even though some of us felt a bit sick after we started to sail (Parents please note...the tablets are being very well used!) however the weather was beautiful and sunny, and some of us got burnt...FIONA!!!! :D
Finally we waved goodbye to the Isle of Wight this afternoon as we left over the Needles (we anchored there last night). Hello to everyone back at home.
Currently sailing somewhere towards France and the Channel Islands, John the second mate has just put on the engines to avoid getting too close to a fishing boat. He also gave us a lovely tour round the Bridge...there’s a lot to remember!!
Abi and Charlie are developing a great skill for sleeping anywhere; we were crashed out for a lot of the afternoon on the bridge and now are taking it in turns to nap in the upper mess. Many photos of them asleep will surface soon.
The stars are amazing and many things have been shooting across the sky. These are most likely satellites but they may be stars so we’re making wishes anywayJ.
Tomorrow brings a lovely 4-8am watch, all are hoping to see the sunrise over France – which should mean we soon hit Saint Malo, the thought of dry land and shopping is spurring us all on. Ducky was found but Abi managed to lose it...or did it swim away...does anyone know where our blae dwk is (blue Duck)???!!
Night watch isn’t too bad, lot’s of shooting stars which are pretty! Taking the sea temperature at 2 O’clock in the morning is a bit scary when you have to lean over the side......
