11/09/2010 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 11/09/2010

Its day 6 and we are on watch from 12.30pm til 4pm. We have now passed into Scottish waters so it was our job to hoist the Scottish flag, we thought it was apt that Frances should be the one to do this. We have a fair few Scottish members of the crew and when the flag was spotted a cheer could be heard down below.

Its rather choppy today and we’ve mostly been heading due north with the wind behind us. It’s not been entirely straight forward though because we’ve been up and down most of the shift adjusting the yards from square to starboard and back again to try and gain speed which is currently about 6 knots.

I (Rach) have escaped down to the bar just in time it seems as I can hear David up on deck shouting orders which means only one thing, another sail has been set!

Only got twenty minutes left of the watch so better get back as Nursie (Rachel) has set up her shop in the lower mess so we can all buy some Lord Nelson goodies when we finish.

From all the Aft Port Watch:

Rach, Emma, Francis, Sally, Margaret, Stella, Sarah, Lucinda & Silvia (Watch Leader)
