The plan for today is to sail for a while and then anchor off the mainland opposite Mull. Before leaving Colonsay we had a photo call on the jetty full crew and in watches, Chief Engineer a.k.a. Ratchet is a whizz on the camera and has a special birdy had to make everyone smile. On this lovely morning we set more sail than ever before and pulled out into the Sound. On Mainmast Royal, T Gallant and Topsail on Foremast the same plus Flying Jib and Outer Jib. This is what it’s all about. When not hauling we made shipshape for Captain’s rounds. We should record our Guides Own in the Lower Mess which was a lovely opportunity to reflect on our voyage so far with a few songs, a few words and an excellent production by the Lord Nelson repitoiry players given there was no rehearsal. It was touching that Joanna chose to make her Promise as a Leader
On this occasion and then we all remade our Promises. It was something special to sing I Am One Voice Singing with all members of the GG1 Voyage Crew. This was specially requested after the sing-song two nights ago when we learnt it (Dinah says Gillian Charmers of One World One Beat fame in GGS would be proud of us). Louise from Girlguiding Bedfordshire likes this song lots. Joanna got to wear the SCC badge for the whole day to celebrate. After closely inspecting the dramatic cliffs of Mull a sudden wind change took the ship around in a big circle but now we are becalmed over to aft port watch.
