13/12/2009 - Tenacious

Warm sunshine and smiles greeted the voyage crew as we joined S/V Tenacious in Malta, as a few of us had arrived early due to early flights, we had the chance to experience Malta's capital Valletta. After joining it was unpacking and settling in, safety briefs and evac drills and, it was ready for dinner. After dinner we headed out again into town for a few drinks in an amazing little bar (it wouldn't hold more than 10 of us!) Back to the ship and straight into harbour watch, then bed as we were tired. Everyone was up at 0730, but with happy faces as we were setting sail in the afternoon! Practised bracing stations and climbing the rigging. Lunch then we cast off the lines and off into the Med. The crew took the boat out with guidance from the pilot, and ,once out of the harbour, Josh climbed the rigging with John and let off on the clewlines. Once the sails had been set and the yards had been braced we went into watches and sallied off towards Sicily.
