We arrived at Santa Cruz de la Teneriffe after breakfast on Saturday morning. Just to mention, we had a cracking sail on Friday afternoon reaching 8 knots with full sail and spotting loads of dolphins, a couple of turtles and at least 2 whales. The whales were a way off and blowing water spouts.
The rest of the morning was then spent doing assisted climbs. Some very valiant efforts were made to much applause and a general 'feel good' atmosphere..
After lunch we went in to have a mooch around the town ans saw a spot of the rugby. The Welsh and Irish game were a nice little warm up to the main event on Sunday- England's epic demolition of France.
The evening was spent enjoying the very convivial atmosphere of Santa Cruz- The old town was particularly buzzy and full of well dressed locals enjoying saturday night on the town. Our scruffy lot probably lowered the tone several notches. Some of our party enjoyed themselves so much-aided by unusually large measures of Gin, that they tried to get a ride home in a dust cart having mistaken it for a Taxi!
Today Sunday 15th we had our beauty sleep rudely disturbed at 5am to get underway and back to Gran Canaria.
