We sailed across form Cherbourg last Thursday, then came up the Solent on Friday and berthed in Southampton. Once the VC departed, we began preparing for maintenance. On Saturday morning both ships had to shift berth and we can currently be found on 104 berth if you're coming down for maintenance (but don't forget to book through ship ops).
Work's been going on in the charthouse where we're replacing computers and shifting some equipment. In the PD passageways, we're replacing a number of the deckhead panels and there's more work going on in the showers.
Some of the bunk areas have had a touch of paint, and there's a team currently working on the lockers in the Lower Mess. So far, they've emptied them and scraped the old paint and then they'll be sanding smooth before applying some fresh paint. We've also got some new curtains being made onboard and lots of minor repairs to flags. The engineers have been getting pumps out, to send away for servicing and have been taking in fresh oil for all the routine changes which will be required over the winter. Our washing machine and tumble dryer - those stalwart workers - have received some welcome attention, and we're even going to paint the bases they sit on in this maintenance. On top of all these, there's always work going on in the Galley. The Cook's been busy doing a very thorough clean and she's managing to feed us all too! We've had a few visitors, a Lloyds surveyor was down yesterday for some surveys which are due about now, and an MCA surveyor was here today. That's not quite all though, we've still got a further surveyor to come on Thursday!
