16/09/2008 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 16/09/2008

Up at 0630 for mess duty. Breakfast, porridge, cereal, sausage meat, scrambled egg, mushrooms and bacon- toast. After breakfast, all hands on deck to haul on sheets, buntlines to unfurl sails. Really enjoyed hauling on the sheets- had to listen for the order two, six, HEAVE. Smooth sailing. Winds force 3-4 with light seas cloudy sky and sunny intervals. Getting chilly towards end of afternoon.

Evacuation emergency drill in afternoon- all turned up at the correct place.

Liz (Watch Leader) Eryl, Martin, Mike, Nikki, Dan, Annie took turns at the helm. Writing up the log.

Fruit cake, ginger cake at smoko very good.

Happy Hour 1600-1700- Cleaning ship, scrubbing, washing, vacuuming, disinfecting, all like sea-going Mrs Tiggywinkle’s.

Middle Watch tonight midnight to 0400.

No signal on my mobile – just the sea and the sky and The Lord Nelson sailing on towards St. Malo.
