We arrived in Regio de Calabrio at 1500 yesterday, with fanstastic weather -the sun setting on the high rise apartments, and were greeted by the coastgaurd who gave us guide books for the local area, (but no maps for the bars!). After a quick run ashore to scout the local area, we came back to the ship for dinner, then went back into the town and found plenty of expensive shops and bars which put good smiles on our faces. Started up a game of pegging by placing washing pegs onto people. 2 pegs=1pint. In the bar we managed to peg the man selling the roses which was excellent. We recommend you try a cocktail called Kevin.
Went back to Tencious, along the sea front, and got pictures standing on top of some local christmas ornements ( no damage to property occurred).
Then we pretty much fell asleep as soon as our heads hit the pillow. Woke up to a beautiful breakfast, and sunshine!
Up on deck to get instructions, for the day then started with assisted climbs, Denise, Rahim and Ian all going up the rigging, with Rahim making it to the Royal!!Started to prepare the ship for leaving, taking off the hawsers and leaving the berth at 1100. We went out into the straights of Messina, with strong katabatic winds! We're sitting in bathed in fantastic sunshine, sails filled, and a snowy Mt. Etna on the coast.
