We welcomed sun drenched Volos after picking up the pilot and mooring on a delightful berth very near to the town. A visit from the mayor, some STI tall ship race officials (in readiness for the Tall Ships Race later this summer); and, of course, the press and TV, where Captain John was welcomed and interviewed at length. The town seemed mainly to consist of bars and restaurants which were very much appreciated by everyone, especially at night. Next morning, the voyage crew photographs were taken ‘enhanced’ by Harry’s shirt and Heather’s shorts. This was followed by assisted climbs and a short run ashore. It was great to see the rest of the voyage crew climb the mast with the help of their fellow crew members. Like Jason and the Argonauts, we sailed (well, motored) out of Volos harbour hoping to find the Golden Fleece. We all miss you Jenny but trust your birthday goes well today!
