19/09/2008 - Lord Nelson
Dated: 19/09/2008
Day 4 LN706 wrote Mr Kipling: The sun rose over a beautiful sleepy St Malo. Little did they know what was in store once the crew of the lusty Lord Nelson was released on the town?
The night had passed quietly with watches reduced to only 2 crew members, who spent most of their shift watching the unstable of St Malo making their way home.
Breakfast was a continental affair of Croissants, Pain au Chocolat and Brioche purchased after a lengthy search by Rosie.
After Watch leaders meeting the morning was spent carrying out aided climbs up the mast. Well done everybody, especially Liam who made it right to the very very top of the main mast.
After climbing had completed the ships company all made their own separate ways, which saw most of them either departing to the nearest bar, or trekking around the town walls of St Malo all taking turns in the wheel chair. The weather was fantastic with clear blue sky and a lovely warm breeze. What a brilliant day. Friendships where cemented over a glass of vin, many thanks Cookie.
The evening saw the ships company once again departing to the local facilities with copious amounts of beer, wine and of course Coke. Food was consumed in great quantities before everyone retired for a jolly evening of conversation and frivolity in the ships bar.
Lee says that it has been a very good trip with good company and wonderful people. The weather has been very nice with a good sail from Southampton to Weymouth via St Malo. Going up the rigging has been fab and he got right to the button!!! It was very hard work but he got there in the end (well done MP!!) with a little help from his new found friends! Roll on next year – so he can do it all again! Lee x
