Daily Tenacious Blog for 18th Feb 16.00hrs to 19th Feb 16.00hrs.
Summer bargains were had by all at the ship’s shop. Further excitement followed when 2 pods of dolphins were sighted during the first dog watch off the port bow. As Greek legend would have it, a large electrical storm followed later. With night sailing looming, the aft port watch were mesmerised by a spectacular display of stars and a turkish moon. With a pleasant breeze in the air, the stay sails were set in the hope of capturing sufficient wind to enable Tenacious to continue her adventure and reach Crete under wind power. Morning watch saw heavy shipping with 15 ships sighted and continued calm conditions. The Captain announced a change of plan to anchor off Spetsai on Saturday night, to shelter from an expected southerly gale. An inspiring sail setting presentation by the Chief Mate has the crew eager in anticipation of ANY WIND to take Tenacious past the Island of Kea. With a beef curry on the evening menu this may be possible!
