19/05/2009 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 19/05/2009

Greetings from the Aft Starboard Watch; namely Jenny (watch leader), Tim (her brother), Sue (her sister), John, Harold and Roger. We arrived on the Bridge at 12 midnight, looking at the mast up against a backdrop of inky black sky peppered with hundreds of twinkling stars – truly beautiful. Later on in the day, the Forward Starboard watch experienced sudden violet squall on their forenoon watch when the Captain appeared from the Chart room, took control of the wheel, saving the day! An evacuation drill was followed by happy hour (we were all smiling at this stage as we had not done one before!). In the afternoon Chris called us to a talk about sail setting which funnily enough was followed by hard labour! We are using muscles we didn’t know we had! There are a few green faces but everyone is determined to keep going as much as possible. In answer to my daughter’s text question – yes Gemma, it is ‘rocky’!!!
