After a bouncy night at sea we emerged to find ourselves steaming towards Cherbourg, which was alarming after all the circular discussions of yesterday. It became apparent though that the plans had not gone awry, but this was a cunning plan of the Captain to enable us to have enough sea room to sail today.
After breakfast we worked all the calories off by pulling yards of rope and setting 7 of the square sails and started heading towards Alderney. The day included a bit of sea rage when a tanker refused to acknowledge our presence, as well as an extra stint of happy hour. Unfortunately, because of our good progress we were forced to hand sail soon after 3pm which didn't give us time to enjoy the delicious muffins (healthy option and full fat).
We let go the anchor at about 5.30 in what would be a beautiful setting in Alderney Bay, if only the rain and mist would desist. We write this sitting in the bar after some retail therapy.
