21/05/2009 - Tenacious
Dated: 21/05/2009
An early morning start (06.30!) and we slipped our moorings by half past seven, having breakfast as we eased down the Solent. Next stop Waterford in Ireland. This is a delivery voyage - no voyage crew on this run- we have two watch leaders who are on for the next voyage, and four cadets. A pity really, the weather is beautiful and promises to remain so for the next few days. However we were not idle, there was plenty of work to be done plus some drills carried out.
We also had speed trials to do whizzing up and down a measured mile off Portland with lots of revs and frothy water. Ha! Jim, feel the wind in your hair and the salt in your tea. Now we are heading west at a more sedate speed with the English coast a distant dark line in the setting sun. Ah bliss.
