21/08/2010 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 21/08/2010

We are anchored just off the mouth of the Helford River as we finally left Falmouth and travelled south west. We left port at 10:30 this morning, so we still had enough time to do happy hour which meant cleaning the ship above and below decks before setting sail, and travelling to an anchorage nine nautical miles away, anchoring just before dinner. Along the way we did sail out past the Lizard and got to learn about setting the sails and enjoy a good sail and get a practice at wearing the ship (moving it around using the braces on the yards and staysails to be able to sail in a different direction We had quite a few sea sick crew as we went on our way. And now at 0040hrs Mary (W/L), Emily and I are on anchor duty,  checking that we aren’t dragging the anchor and that nobody has fallen out of their bunks, whilst drinking hot drinks and consuming lots of biscuits!
