22/07/2009 - Tenacious
Dated: 22/07/2009
After last night's ceilida session, there were a few red eyes when we were
"invited" to wake up for breakfast. However all was made good when it became clear that the weather gods had
favoured us as way of reward for our fortitude in dealing with yesterday's
foul weather and the sun shone.
Following a hale 'n' hearty breakfast, fruit juice, cereal, toast, full
English, including fried potatoes, we weighed anchor, set sail and left the
protection of the sturdy harbour into a force six heading toward the Isle of
Wight and the English coastal area.
Additional sails as the day progressed and we made good passage for most of
the morning. By afternoon watch we were deep in the shipping channel with full sails,
fabulous. At time of writing (20.00 hrs) it has just been "all hands on deck" to "tack
the yards" And heading twelve miles or so up channel toward the Solent, intending to be
under sail for the rest of the night heading for Lyme bay and anchorage (not
Alaska).
Then it's a days sailing and with mixed emotions for Southampton (Neptune
has stolen a week from us but she's welcome) and the end of our very special
voyage and the beginning of the planning for our next.
FLASH NEWS have just been informed by Hammie (cookie) tomorrows supper is by
way of a BBQ
Including various forms of swimming things,
