Well here we are in Aalborg- a beautiful, place and lovely weather. We got in the day before yesterday, about eight o'clock in the evening. We had motored up the river and had to wait for the bridge to lift before we could get tied up. We are on the Aalborg side of the river, right next to the bridge and we are A in a line of A class ships that goes to P ( and there are others on the other side of the river.) Ships everywhere!
The next piece of good news was that our special badges get us in almost everywhere, for free- museums, buses, all kinds of places, so once we had completed our landing formalities, most people headed off ashore to do some exploring. It's a very friendly city, and my spies in the ladies foc'sle told me about a fantastic ice cream shop which I felt obliged to visit yesterday! Very nice!
A lot of the ships are extending invitations to other crews to visit. A couple of our crew have been to Dewaruci- an Indonesian military vessel - today, to do some dancing - they certainly looked well exercised when they came back and apparently had a great time.
We are running open ship again today so we have lots of people visiting and loads of kids running round with pirate patches on! However we will close for a while at 3 pm as we are going to do the voyage crew debrief and signing off then as quite a lot of people are leaving early tomorrow. Once we have done all of that it's time for the Crew Parade, which will be followed by prizegiving and then the Crew party.
We don't know for sure but we are hoping that we may have gone up one place in the final reckoning, as one of our opponents is probably going to get a time penalty, and that should make the difference of one place.
So we will carry on enjoying the sun for the rest of the day and then tomorrow everyone goes home and another crew joins for the cruise in company Sue MP
