Its day 10 and 1080 meals served another 280 to go! After 50 knot winds, the cadets have kindly rebuilt the cold store (aka Pauline’s allotment) A top mess team have been in the galley today, including ‘Two Pan Pat from Poole’, Harry ‘the Potato Peelin’ King’ and Jill & John, the Turbo washer-uppers.
We left the quiet of Souda Bay this morning, motoring at full speed in search of a stiff breeze to allow us to sail north to Poros. No luck in the search as yet, but we are ever hopeful (and as dinner time approaches we are rolling more). Before leaving the Bay, we did have some excitement as we passed an in-coming Spanish submarine. Our ex-submariner Mate Chris dipped our ensign to salute the vessel, which replied by bringing their casing party (submariners standing on the deck) to attention and saluting our bridge.
On the menu tonight is pork chops, apple and cider gravy, new potatoes and cauliflower cheese with the veggies on board enjoying a nut roast, Greek style – yummy!
