23/11/2009 - Tenacious

Dated: 23/11/2009

The weather is warm and dry. The JST flag having been duly refurbished by the watch seamstress, we proudly sailed into the port of Cadiz.

Small groups made their way around the city during the day. The more senior gentlemen sampled the various coffee shops and restaurants for an oversized lunch, walking it off by continually losing their direction in the narrow streets.

Some in the watch visited the impressive Botanical Gardens with its 1000 year old Magnolia grandiflora, while being serenaded by lorikeets. One of the coastal forts was successfully assaulted, despite a determined resistance by the builders and their “No Entry” signs. We can all highly recommend Cadiz. Our evening duty was taken in a local restaurant celebrating our progress so far. Saturday we will take to the high seas again, via the Strait of Gibraltar and into the Mediterranean. “Hasta la vista” Cadiz.   Aft Starboard Watch
