24/07/2008 - Tenacious

Dated: 24/07/2008

Weather changed about midnight last night, all of a sudden the waves became rather large and sea sickness became a problem for some people the following morning.

We had the midnight to 4am watch this morning- would really recommend that anyone on this should try and get a couple of hours sleep beforehand- not a good idea to fall asleep while you're supposed to be on the lookout for 'obstacles'!!

After a couple of hours sailing(I emphasise the sailing part! This was the first time to wind had picked up enough to enable us to use the sails), we arrived at Alderney, in the Channel Islands. As the harbour isn't deep enough for Tenacious, RIBs had to be used to ferry people back and forth to the Island. Some people paid the price for jumping to the front of the queue, by getting extremely wet as the waves had picked up even more!

This day on the Island gave everyone the opportunity to shop, swim, find out info. about the German occupation and eat(only if we had any room left in our stomachs after all the food we keep being fed!!). Now we are back on the ship getting ready for a BBQ. More food!!!

All in all, a different experience from anything we have had before.
