It’s Burns Day on Tenacious today (instead of tomorrow, when we’re having a meal out in Las Palmas on our last night) and the burning question onboard this afternoon is: Who ate all the Scotch pies? Well, that’s an easy one – a member of Aft Port watch, who shall remain nameless, managed to eat not just one at lunchtime, but another 3 while on watch! (Honestly, Tom (oops!), we don’t know where you put it.) Meanwhile, Emma is practicing her hula-hooping on the bridge – with a collapsible hoop she brought onboard – while the rest of us drink tea and look on admiringly.
We’re all excited after watching a pod of dolphins swimming alongside the ship earlier, showing off with leaps out of the water – ten or eleven of them at one point. It’s definitely made up for the lack of wildlife on the voyage so far, unless you count the bioluminescent plankton that the science team hauled up in their nets last night.
We’re hoping for a bit more wind this afternoon so that we can get the sails up and do a bit more sailing as we head back towards Las Palmas and our last day onboard.
Libby, Aft Port watch.
