All good things must come to an end and so it was with voyage 257. After breakfast the captain gave her debrief a total of 569 nautical miles had been made of which 201 were under sail. Anchors away from the mooring off Benbridge at 09:00 hours with the pilot joined Tenacious made her way down the Solent.
As always on the leaving day there is a lot of activity on board packing bags and the last Happy Hour. However there is always time though for Tenacious to dip her flag as she passes HMS Mersey at 10:00 hours. A few moments for the crew to reflect on their experience and a little ditty put together by Gordon sums up the journey
"Farewell to the Tall Ship Tenacious,
And its sponsors at base JST,
Farewell to our Captain and crew,
For the 10 great days at sea"
"I have learned how to brace the yards,
And take and make up the log,
I have to go home on a diet,
My belly's like a wee butch dog"
"Farewell to the friends I have met here,
I hope we can all keep in touch,
"Farewell adieu," go raibh w'le moith agat"from us Irish (that's thanks very much)
Gordon, Colett Aft Port
