Motored out of Aberdeen as no wind to speak of – learned the sails are royal, t’gallant
Topsail and course in descending order from the top yardarm – lots of technicalities a little bit lost on some of us who had little sleep and a 4am watch for the first time
At about 11.45 after practising moving the yardarms, we put up the main and mizzen staysails or fore and aft as Adam my memory man tells me – we’re now doing 6-8 knots en route to Kiel Kanal en route to Gdynia (or so I’m told – I woke up from a doze and was reminded of the old song “I joined the navy to see the world…. And what did I see. I saw the sea “)
Still the daily tasks don’t wait and at 4.45 mess duty starts – Oh joy, no watch duty till tomorrow evening.
