Day 4. Christmas Day. Woken by an angel singing! Nigel rojoiced -the skies were blue -hurrah!!! Bucks Fizz... smoked salmon... scrambled egg....croissants... what more could we ask for? Just more of the best mince pies ever! Some of the crew went to explore the volcano whilst the rest constructed Tenacious's victorious raft on the quay. The competitors kept theirs under wraps but they don't stand a chance! Our raft is only equalled by the America's cup. Adios! AS, FP and AS raft builders. Join us again later to find out how we thrashed the competition (or perhaps not - see our next blog)
Christmas Day dawned bright & sunny and that was just the weather! Jude woke the crew with her rendition of 'Once in Royal David’s City' (words changed), joined by watch members for ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas & Breakfast call'. All appeared jolly & ready for some fun Christmas Day activities, starting with a coach trip for some to see the lip of the volcano and general sight seeing of the island. The remaining crew stayed on board to build a raft & trip ashore to see other tall ships (four in all). A fabulous lunch was served at 1pm by permanent crew, where after raft racers prepared to start race. After a little confusion the race started with Jude, Charlotte, Adrian & Mark giving a valiant effort against the German crews, 3 rafts and Tenacious came 3rd! Warm showers, hot chocolate & relaxation followed, then all were free to enjoy the rest of the day with open market stalls, more festive food & drink, singing, dancing & general frivolity. What a wonderful way to spend Christmas day with new friendships forming daily.
