Great excitement yesterday afternoon - Fred the Fish was called to the poop deck IMMEDIATELY. We had caught a fish. It was a smallish tuna- quite an expensive one as we have lost several lures in the process of catching one fish but there you go. Captain Barbara made a sushi starter for dinner with it and we will eat the rest as a starter another day.
When we went to bed last night, most of us were unsure where we were going- the choices were Patras and then through the Corinth Canal which would have been very exciting for everybody ( I was on the ship the last time we did it - very spectacular), or a little town called Ythrion. However we had had no phone signal for a couple of days and hence no computer, so we didn't know what the weather was planning to do to us- which is why it was a late at night decision!
Woke up to find we were not far from Ythrion, so after breakfast we moored up there, and then did the BEST EVER voyage photo- all of us on the foremast, Pete perched on the mainmast with the camera. After lunch most people went out for the afternoon, did a little sightseeing and ate ice creams around the harbour, in the sun.
We intend to sail again tomorrow afternoon. but now we have a weather forecast, it is unsure how far we can get. Volos is looking extremely unlikely because of head winds, and we have to make a decision soon as people have flights to deal with.
