Race Leg from Varna to Istanbul - Day 3. After a long night of tacking, and only minutes away from Waypoint 2, unfortunately we were pushed away from rounding the Waypoint by going aback and a wayward current. With unfriendly wind directions the Race was finished early at 1000hrs, ship's time. The lean, mean machines of Mir and Dar Mlodziezy had already made it over the finish line, but but we could see fellow victims of the weather conditions, Alexander Von Humboldt and Shabab Oman bobbing about equally frustrated. We are now having a leisurely sail in beautiful, conditions, for the last 50 miles into Istanbul where Festivities await the Fleet this coming weekend. Most people are out on deck, topping up their tans, and looking out for the occasional dolphin. We have a stowaway wagtail as well as a bat in the belfry - aka first platform (or more correctly, the Fore Top! - Ed).
