Day 5, Boxing day. After a normal routine breakfast & briefing, a sail handling training session was very ably led by Steve, followed by "Smoko" & crew & watch photos on quayside. "Happy hour" was completed in almost record time (we know if we do it quickly, we'll get more rest time!*) another sumptuous lunch then all watches gathered together for leaving port at 14.00hrs. We're headed for island of El Hierro and should be there on Saturday 27th Dec. The wind is 30 knots, full sunshine & we're hoping to put some sail up to get practice in. Our watch is gelling nicely - all seem to be enjoying this experience, so far so good!
