After a gentle sail overnight we arrived in Cherbourg early am. Royalist had called us earlier and offered to take our lines on arrival, which we accepted with thanks. This they did once we had manoeuvred through the lock. After a late-ish breakfast we had assisted climbs which, for those that know, are one of the highlights of every trip.
Next came, shore leave. It was a splendid day with blue skies and really quite warm. In the evening, a very merry time was had by most, according to the harbour watches! Well, it is only polite to sample the calvados whilst here isn’t it!
This morning, the 28th, we left port, quietly, at 9.30 en route for the Channel Islands with very calm sea, and a decreasing wind. Motoring through the Alderney race we are currently rolling at anchor in Braye Bay. The famous, or is that infamous, Alderney Races (geddit?!) have just taken place with the writers having lost a small fortune but obviously to a worthwhile cause. In this case Anthony, and the JST.
We have been blessed with super weather, albeit with light winds, this week, with wonderful sun sets and rises.
Forward Port anchor watch.
