27/09/2008 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 27/09/2008

Day 6 27.9.08

Today I woke up to a cold morning in Cherbourg at 7:50am. We re-opened the sails, then had a nice bacon sandwich for breakfast, and set off to cross the channel around 8:40am.

We had early lunch for the messmen and the on going watch, which was around 11:52.

I was the watch leader for the 12:30pm till 4pm watch. We (The AP Port Team) took turns with the steering every 15 minutes. We had to look out for ships and boats coming close to the Lord Nelson. At one stage the Brittany Ferries came within approximately a third of a mile to us and sounded their horn as they passed by giving us a friendly wave.

This is great experience for the crew as this is something that can be added to their CV’s, I’m having a great time I made some new friends and learned some new skills.
