27/09/2009 - Lord Nelson

Dated: 27/09/2009

For some strange reason the captain decided to change the ship time to the French time (by the way: why it hast to be French time? Let's say European time). The result was that the poor guys being on watch from 8pm to midnight stepped down from the bridge on 12pm and reached their bunks 5 minutes later. on 1.05 am! And when finally sleep decided to come by, Alice turned the lights on and invited us to leave the bunks because the anchor needed to be retrieved. In spite of the really short and troublesome night, we did a great job in bracing the yards (ok, I have to admit that the royal sail refused to come down, but John and Chris set an example of what the permanent crew is for by solving the problem - nobody knows how). The rest of the day went smoothly: everyone took the chance to play captain at the helm (which is an exhilarating experience) and enjoyed the beautiful weather - and hoped for just a little more wind in the next days!
