For those of you who are wondering where Lord Nelson is we can now admit that she's still in sunny Milford Haven!
The dry docking has become somewhat extended due to finding some wasted steel below the water line which we have had to replace so that she will emerge back to Southampton in tip-top condition.
In addition to repairing our bottom we have grit blasted the underwater area and the topsides up to the rubbing strake and have wandered down the road of epoxy paints (like Tenacious) instead of the conventional ones that we have been using.
Other than those jobs we have been mainly involved with survey work, removing all the underwater valves, painting in bilges and those millions of little jobs that you can only do when out of the water.
At present it looks like Lord Nelson will be making her way back to Southampton sometime during the week starting the 8th December so if anyone is planning any pleasant outdoor pursuits beware that it's likely to be blowing Easterly gales that week!
On a personal note, I'll be going on extended leave from the beginning of December and will be back bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for the start of the 2009 season so I'll wish you all a Happy Christmas, pleasant sailing if joining Tenacious this winter and please don't forget that the chaps on Lord Nelson would love to see you on board to give a hand making her shiny again (please contact office to book in for maintenance!)
