We sailed overnight into Portofino. The sailing had been a bit lumpy overnight, which meant some people had to retire to bed. We arrived at Portofino mid morning. We anchored in the outer harbour and Simon the Captain went ashore to speak to the port authority. The Doti boat took the first of the crew ashore then the captain returned and informed us we had been asked to move into the inner harbour and fees were waived. The power of JST ! The ship moved into the harbour and created a lot of interest with the locals and tourists. At least six of the wheelies went ashore in the Doti boat.We were ashore from one thirty to five thirty.
Portofino is a beautiful little village but rather expensive. The sun was shining and we found a wonderful homemade ice cream shop. Back on board we were invited bu the engineers to pre-dinner Pimms on deck, which was rather pleasant.
Aft starboard watch.
