Sailing towards Alderney after reducing sails to main course plus two lower topsails and the outer jib. This was done to try and ensure arrival at Alderney at about 7:00 am. One watch got wet in the early hours. During mine and Roger's watch (20:00 - 24:00) we kept busy maintaining the heading 170, filling in the log book and discussing knot types and functions with the bosun. Sea was fairly calm and Tenacious travelled at steady at 3 knots.
29th a.m.
Roger stunned everyone by jumping out of his chair and climbing up to the first yard under his own steam. After the large round of applause Roger gave a small bow and large grin. Neil and Rose also went aloft with a crowd gathered watching. After a hearty lunch the crew went ashore and found the nearest establishment with a license. After a few soft drinks and some good banter we made our way back to the ship for some much needed dinner!
Tenacious staying anchored in the bay tonight - so Roger and I have a midnight anchor watch to look forward to.
